Practical Advice From The North of England

Standard

‘Dear Jo,

I do hope your ankle is getting better as you will need all your speed to run away from the muggers. I didn’t read it in the Daily Mail, it’s just what I’ve heard…’

– My Mum, May 2013 (paraphrased)

Love you Mum.

  1. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was wondering what all is needed to get set up? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty
penny? I’m not very web smart so I’m not 100% positive. Any
tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

    • The best place to begin an easy, free blog is WordPress.com. No cost at all and there are lots of different themes available that will suit what you want to get from and express in your blog.

You can pay to upgrade and customise your themes or for a URL that is not WordPress identified.

You can go self-hosted. You do this with WordPress.org. This is more complicated (so I understand, it is something I am considering at present) and will cost money. If you research this on the internet you will likely find people reporting that it is more flexible and allows you more control as a blogger.

I hope this helps. Best of lluck with your blog.

      Jo
